Mothers Union

A great day was had by all who went to “A Day Away from it All” event on Saturday 23rd September 12 noon – 4pm at Inchydoney Island Lodge, Clonakilty. The menu was created by Head Chef Adam Medcalf and his team to reflect the local produce and producers for the West Cork Region. Kate Ryan lead the day and we had an eight course meal. Each course was introduced by Kate and she told us where the food was produced. After the lunch most people went in their cars a short distance to see the Community Gardens in Clonakilty. The weather was not the best but a great day was had by all. Thanks to Lucinda and Hilary for organising this event. Our opening service will take place on Wednesday 11th October in St James Mallow at 8pm. MU Christmas cards and literature will be available on the night. All welcome.

Elizabeth Bowen Commemoration

The annual service was held on Sunday 10th September in St Colman’s Church at 3.30pm. The service took the form of Evening Prayer in the old form and was conducted by Very Rev. R.B. MacCarthy and the address was given by Judge Peter Smithwick.

Important Notice re Reformation500

Broadcast from St Fin Barre’s Cathedral A national televised broadcast of an act of worship from our Diocese comes once in a generation. We have been given that opportunity. Not only will this be a broadcast of our own Diocesan Commemoration of this 500th Anniversary of the start of the Reformation, it will also be RTE’s (our national public service broadcaster) principal broadcast marking Reformation500 nationally. We need a full St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Cork for this on Sunday, 22nd October. The recording will begin at 4 p.m. and everyone will need to be in their seats by 3.45 p.m. at the latest (absolutely no latecomers admitted).
