Domestic Violence
“16 days against Violence against Women” is an international event that highlights gender-based violence. It begins on the 25th of November, which is the international day for the elimination of violence against women, to the 10th of December which is Human Rights day. Since 1996, 216 women have died violently in Ireland. 136 in their own homes. 56% of women are killed by a current boyfriend, partner or husband.  {Women’s Aid}.  The OSS Cork Domestic Violence Resource and Information Centre assists both female and male victims who experience domestic abuse. It offers information on legal, financial, housing and welfare entitlements as well as giving support, advocacy and advice. It is a confidential and non-judgmental service that runs a helpline, appointment and walk-in service.  During the 16 days, there will be a donation box at the back of each church, if you feel you would like to give a donation to the OSS it would be greatly appreciated.  For further information contact Mary St Leger 022/72785

A teacher asked the children in her Sunday School class, “If I sold my house and my car,
had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would I get into heaven?”
“NO!” the children all answered.
“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy,
would I get into heaven?”
Again, the answer was “NO!”
Well,” she continued, “then how can I get to heaven?”
In the back of the room, a five-year-old boy shouted out, “You gotta be dead!”
How to Get to Heaven?
